Taken in 1944 in Dun Laoghaire, when he was mate possibly of the Cambria.  At that Mr. Pritchard was friendly with a Mr. Sheridan, an amateur photographer who managed a cinema at the bottom of the Forty Foot Road and who most likely took the shot while the mate was ashore for a paper.

Capt Evan R. Pritchard in January 1951. He had received his appointment as permanent Master (cargo) the previous November. Sadly, he died on 2nd February 1951, age 58. He was C/O of the Scotia at Dunkirk. His seagoing career was eventful and often dangerous which no doubt affected his health in the end.

During that time he was master of several cargo vessels, Holyhead Ferry 1 and Hibernia.
