Looking at the London Midland and
Scottish Railway (LMS) era, through
the state-owned British Transport Commission (BTC) and
'British Railways' (BR)
which came into being on
1 January 1948.
Continuing through the establishment of the new British Railways Board
on 1 January 1963 and the abolition of the BTC, to the formation on 1
January 1968 of the Shipping and International Services Division and
until that ceased
on 1st January 1979, the day on which
Sealink UK Ltd, a wholly owned company of the British Rail Board, was
born.
